You can now scroll through Google's desktop Search results continuously

Last modified 29 April 2026

In the United States, Google has introduced the feature of continuous scrolling to desktop search results.

With an upgrade that allows users to continuously scroll across many pages, Google aims to make desktop search results more similar to mobile search results.

Google outlines how the SERPs will present up to six pages of hyperlinks before inviting visitors to click on "more results":

“… we’re bringing continuous scrolling to desktop so you can continue to see more helpful search results with fewer clicks. It’s now even easier to get inspired with more information at your fingertips.

Now, when you scroll down you’ll continue to find relevant results so that you can discover new ideas. When you reach the bottom of a search results page, up to six pages of results will be automatically shown until you see a “More results” button if you wish to continue further.”

This upgrade is a gain for conventional web sites as Google continues to load the first page of search results with advertisements, highlighted snippets, media, 'people also ask' tabs, and other amenities. Allowing searchers to scroll through six pages at once enhances their chances of viewing more results before encountering a halt.

We do not anticipate that this modification will have an effect on reporting. When Google updated mobile search results to continuous scrolling last year, it highlighted that there wasn't any difference in Search Console. Google notes that this is because Search Console checks SERP rankings rather than pages:

“Important note: continuous scroll is not "infinite scroll." Rather, continuous scrolling makes it easy to seamlessly view up to four pages of results, then you'll see a "See more" button if you wish to continue further. Continuous scroll also does not change how position reporting works in Search Console. Positions reporting remains as if pages weren’t automatically loaded.”
