All you need to know about Breezeline's new streaming TV service in Columbus

Ohio subscribers of Breezeline have begun switching from a cable-based service to a streaming television platform.

After acquiring WOW!'s Columbus and Cleveland markets for $1.125 billion, Breezeline announced major modifications for Ohio consumers that included the transition.  Customers of the Massachusetts-based business, formerly known as Atlantic Broadband, are transitioning from traditional cable TV to the internet protocol television (IPTV) provider Breezeline Stream TV.

According to business spokesman Andrew Walton, stream TV changes the watching experience for Breezeline subscribers.  It has a ton of functions yet is really easy to use.

Walton pointed out that in addition to the changes Breezeline has made in Ohio, including the addition of Stream TV, the company has also invested $75 million this year and $50 million last year to increase internet capacity in the state in response to complaints about its previous service after entering the market.

Customers may discover more information regarding the changeover by visiting the Stream TV page of Breezeline, but this is what they need to know:

  • Are all Breezeline cable TV subscribers making the transition to Stream TV? Do they get to choose?

All clients will be switched.

  • When will the change take place? Will the public be informed in advance?

Breezeline began converting Columbus clients in January and plans to complete the process by the end of the summer. Groups of customers are being informed about the switch.

  • Is there a price difference between streaming TV and Breezeline cable?

The price will be comparable, but it will differ for each client based on their services, according to Walton. Discounts are given to consumers who switch to Breezeline packages, and package prices are quite competitive.

  • Do clients need any hardware to make the changeover, or even a house visit? What should they do with the equipment they already have?

Customers may install the compact (4-by-4-inch) box needed for Stream TV themselves. Each month, the package costs $4.99. Customers are instructed to phone 844-458-1696 to request the box be delivered to their residence after they have been informed that their service will be changed. They are required to return the old cable box after installation, at no charge, by using the address label that was supplied to them.

  • What, if any, channel differences exist between Breezeline cable service and Breezeline Stream TV?

With the exception of the addition of the NASA channel, the channel lineups remain the same, despite the new service offering video on demand and multi-platform watching that cable providers do not supply.

  • Does Stream TV include a DVR or recording feature?

Yes. A service called Cloud DVR Max allows users to keep up to 300 hours of HD recordings.

  • Is there a maximum number of registered or active devices that users may utilize at once while using Breezeline Stream on any device?

The Stream TV box may be used to access Stream TV on a television. Downloading the Stream TV App and utilizing a Breezeline email account are required in order to use the service on a phone or tablet. Laptop users cannot access Stream TV directly, but they may access particular channels using their Breezeline login details. The business said that it is striving to make the full version of Stream TV accessible on laptops.

One account may be signed up for a maximum of 10 devices, and a maximum of five programs may be watched at once. The restrictions do not apply to shows that are streamed using Stream TV equipment.

  • Do users require a minimum internet speed to access Stream TV reliably?

All internet speeds Breezeline provides in Ohio are compatible with the service, however the provider advises users who frequently stream concurrently on many home devices to think about high-speed internet.

  • Can I find Breezeline Stream on Apple TV, Fire Sticks, or Roku?

Roku devices cannot use the Stream TV app, however FireTV and AppleTV devices can.

  • How many Cleveland and Columbus customers will be impacted?

With 1.5 million subscribers, Breezeline is the eighth-largest cable operator in the US. Breezeline does not disclose the breakdown of its customer base by market, although it claimed to be serving around 196,000 internet, 61,000 television, and 35,000 telephone subscribers in Columbus and Cleveland at the time it bought  WOW!'s Ohio business.
